Jim Spinney, Principal Consultant, for Spinney & Huber LLC has been involved in the record storage and warehouse management industry spans more than 25 years. He founded Data Storage Centers in 1986 in Jacksonville, Florida. Starting with this one location, Data Storage Centers grew to 16 locations nationwide and at the time of its sale in 2000, DSC was the fifth largest record storage company in the United States. Under Jim’s direction and sales effort, this company grew at an astounding rate of 30% a year. His personal sales generated over $8,000,000 in annual revenue.
A long standing active member of the Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA), Professional & Information Services Management (PRISM), and the National Association of Information Destruction (NAID), Jim brings a wealth of experience and expertise to start up operations as well as established record storage centers. He also held membership in the Council of Logistics Management (CLM) and the International Warehouse and Logistics Association (IWLA).Jim was named a Volunteer of the Year by Prism International in 2005.
Recognizing his standing in the industry, Jim received invitations to speak at several PRISM and NAID national conferences and ARMA chapters around the country. His speech topics have included Disaster Recovery Planning, Telemarketing for Success, Imaging Service Bureau Development, Quality Management, and Comparing Risks and Benefits of Offsite vs. Onsite Record Centers.

Jim helped start over 100 commercial record centers around the country. He also was actively involved in successfully completing several record storage center acquisitions.

Patty Huber, Partner and Operations, Administrative and Systems Consultant for Spinney & Huber, LLC, has been involved in the records storage and warehouse management industry for more than 20 years. Starting in 1986 Patty partnered with Jim Spinney to create the Data Storage Centers network, which consisted of 16 company owned facilities and 25 licensees. As Vice President and General Manager, Patty managed the largest and most successful operation with 3 facilities, storing over 1,000,000 cubic feet of records with an average 30% growth rate and 25% profit ratio annually.
Her responsibility included training personnel nationwide on corporate operational policies and procedures, as well as training and troubleshooting records management software. She assisted with the development and implementation of an in-house records management software. Patty created Standard Operating Procedures, software and operational training manuals and guidelines used nationwide by over 300 records administrators and warehouse personnel. All inbound/outbound work flow procedures developed by Patty are currently being taught during consulting process, including barcode scanning procedures. Web based records management software training manuals have also been developed for client’s customers. Developed quality management program for company facilities, as well as “focus group” to improve communications with targeted national customers.
In addition to core record storage business, Patty managed asset distribution nationwide for restaurant chains and major hotel groups. Fulfillment services were provided for companies such as Sony, Home Shopping Network, QVC and The First Tee. Projects required supervision of large temporary staff, management of detailed project scope and meeting time deadlines while producing 38% profits for this division.
After 20 years with the The Suddath Companies, Patty retired in 2004 and joined Spinney as a partner. Patty currently performs consulting services nationwide for startup records centers requiring software training, as well as operational integration. She reviews existing records centers for improved work flow and operational efficiency, as well as performing due diligence analysis on possible acquisition targets.
